What is TheServerSide Java Symposium?
TheServerSide Java Symposium is a community-created and community-driven enterprise Java event. Developed by the minds behind TheServerSide.com, the Web's largest enterprise Java community, the Java Symposium is an intensive educational experience that will catch you up on essential development technologies, give you expert insight into today's most relevant frameworks, and teach you practical, real world ways to architect, develop, and maintain effective Java-based applications and systems.
When is TheServerSide Java Symposium?
The 8th annual Java Symposium is being held March 18-20, 2009 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada.

What does it cost?
We encourage you to reserve your seat early to lock in the lowest price ($1395 before January 16). Have you attended TheServerSide Java Symposium before? Are you a student? You might be eligible for a discount: Find out!

Can I reserve my seat now and pay later?
As many organizations are still finalizing their ’09 budgets, we know it’s tough to get approval to attend now. No worries. Simply email or call your Delegate Relations rep, Jackie Anderson janderson@techtarget.com 781-657-1380, tell her to save your spot now, lock in your early bird savings of $300, and Jackie will call you after the new year to confirm your attendance.
What forms of payment are accepted?
You can pay by Visa, Mastercard, Discover, Check, or Wire/Bank Transfer. If you select to pay by Check or Wire/Bank Transfer, payment is due within 30 days of registration and must be received by March 17, 2009.

How do I register?

How do I make changes to my registration?
You can login and make changes to your registration by clicking here. Use your login (email address) and password that you created while registering. If you would like to substitute your seat, cancel, or are having any difficulties updating your registration, please contact Jackie Anderson.
How do I get a receipt and confirmation after registering?
When registering online you will have the opportunity to print confirmation of your registration. You will also receive a confirmation email with registration details and payment information. Please contact Jackie Anderson if you have any questions.

What are Project Reports?
New this year, Project Reports are 15-minute presentations on the state of various open source projects.
Are you actively involved in an open source project? TheServerSide Java Symposium is offering you the opportunity to tell the Java community about your project.We’ve set aside a number of 15-minute slots for you to get others interested in what you’re doing.Tell us why you and your contributors started the project, what problems it is intended to address, where it stands now, and why your vision is for its future.Whether you’re working on Tapestry, Wicket, Seam, or any one of the hundreds of active open source projects, this is your opportunity to get the word out. What do I do about a hotel?
Caesars Palace is offering discounted rates for Java Symposium attendees for reservations booked by February 25, 2009. The rate is currently $229/night plus 9% tax (tax is subject to change). Visit the Hotel and Travel page for more details or contact Jackie Anderson if you have any questions regarding hotel accommodations.
What if I have to cancel?
Registration refund requests received before February 13, 2009 are entitled to a full refund. Requests received between February 14, 2009 and March 17, 2009 will be granted 25% of the paid registration fee. No cancellation requests will be accepted after March 17, 2009. Request for a refund must be sent via email to Jackie Anderson at janderson@techtarget.com.
Are there any discounts available?
- Have you attended TheServerSide Java Symposium in the past? Please contact Jackie Anderson for your past attendee code.
- Group Registration Rebate: Companies sending 5 employees are eligible to receive a $500 rebate, while companies sending 10 or more employees are eligible for a $1,500 rebate. Requests for rebates must be received via email by March 25, 2009, to Jackie Anderson. Rebates will be mailed on or before May 20, 2009.
- Refer-a-Friend Reward: Know a couple people who would benefit from attending TheServerSide Java Symposium? Refer two colleagues and get a $100 gift card onsite. All registrants receive an email that outlines the Refer-a-Friend program details and includes a special referral code to give to friends and colleagues. Credit can only be given to referrals that result in registration and cannot be applied to anyone already registered. This offer cannot be combined with the Group Registration Rebate.
- Java User Group Discount: Discounts are available for Java User Group members. Please contact Tracie Berardi if you would like to connect with TheServerSide Java Symposium and receive a discount for your members.
- University Discount: With proper ID, university students, faculty and staff members are eligible for a discount – contact Jackie Anderson for more information. We are also looking for a few student volunteers. Volunteering at TheServerSide Java Symposium is an excellent way to experience Java in action, and to network with other Java pros.

When/Where is TheServerSide Java Symposium-Europe 2009?
Last year's event was held June 18-20, 2008 in Prague, Czech Republic. We're still finalizing plans, but we will probably return to Prague in October of 2009.
